"Grew up in Rwanda, first fell in love in Ghana. Hair was inspired by the infusion of East and West Africa. East is represented by the soft perfectly aligned cornrows of the back as our culture is very subtle. West is represented by the bold texture of the front as that culture is very fearless. Lastly, the music is an ode to Blacks in the Americas that have paved the way for us. Cheers to the beautification of all things Black!

One Love,

As a Black woman, my natural hair is a big part of who I am. Sadly, in many workplaces, Black and African women are told their hair is unprofessional. This unfair treatment means we often miss out on job opportunities and can even be sent home because of our hair. My hair represents my heritage and culture. When I’m asked to change it to fit in, it feels like giving up a part of myself. No one should have to do that. In my work experience, l’ve had to conform to certain hair standards to keep my job. This is even harder when men feel they can dictate how women should look. These Experiences show how society tries to control and suppress the identities of Black and African women. Our hair symbolizes our entire being. We must raise awareness and take a stand against hair discrimination to create a more inclusive society. Reclaiming my power isn’t just about my hair. It’s about standing up against all forms of oppression. We need to act now and raise awareness about hair discrimination. No one should have to choose between their identity and fitting in. It’s time for a change, and it starts with US.
